England – 2018 Joseph, July 11, 2018July 19, 2018 This wasn’t my first attempt at Opera Bob’s to watch an England 2018 World Cup match. It’s a small place and they reach capacity pretty quickly, especially when England is doing something pretty magical. I had missed the previous match, apparently 15 minutes before the game was a little on the late side. Only being able to watch the first half, I decided to get there early, around 12:30 for a 2:00 game. It was lovely and my wife and son Wesley joined me for a great lunch. They left before the match started, Wesley is only 8 months and over a hundred screaming English fans is not what he needs right now. They left just in time for England to take a super early lead in the 5th minute of the game. Opera Bob’s was rocking. This is England World Cup Fans at Opera Bobs and there is a reason it’s hard to get in. Date: July 11, 2018 Score of game: Croatia 2, England 1 Location: Opera Bob’s Public House, 1112 Dundas West. Toronto, ON Estimated number of fans at location: 120 Despite all the excitement in the first half, I was sad to go and England eventually lost the match in overtime. Still, semi-finals for England felt pretty sweet, and what with the success of their youth teams, it might be a regular appearance for them in the years to come. I’ll be back, England World Cup Fans at Opera Bobs are the real deal. Related

2018 Germany – 2018 June 27, 2018June 27, 2018 Wow. Germany, the reigning world champions, will not advance to the knockout stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. I’ve watched a lot of World Cup games here in Toronto, and this was by far the most nervously intense crowd I have witnessed. I’ll save any writing on the game… Read More
