England – 2022
There are a lot of emotions present for a passionate fans watching a World Cup game, there is no question about it, kind of the whole point of this project to begin with, but there might not be more emotions present than when you have a game you’re entirely confident your team can and should win, and they just aren’t and don’t. A case in point is the nil/nil draw between England and United States on Friday.
And despite an entire bar filled with English fans, and I mean the entire bar (there wasn’t a USA flag to be seen), because of where and the angle that I was sitting, I had one clear view of a handful of fans with all the emotions. I think it was a frustrating game for them. It’s pretty clear in the pictures it was. Nonetheless, England looked really strong in the opener and there is no reason they won’t turn it on against Wales on Tuesday.
Sometimes it’s just so frustrating you just have to laugh.
I was there at the game at Elephant and Castle as part of an eventbrite organized by the St. George’s Society Toronto, a very historic and impressive philanthropic organization in Toronto. They put on a great event, I won some chocolate, which was awesome for the way home, and I’ll be sure to put them on my radar for future events.
