Cabo Verde – 2026 Joseph, June 26, 2026July 31, 2026 Definitely one of the highlights of the tournament for me was getting to know the Cabo Verde fans and hanging out with them for two matches. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t have a clue how to find then fans going into the tournament and was nervous I was not going to find them. Fortunately, on Father’s Day (June 21), I went to the FIFA Fans Fest at Fort York with my family. It wasn’t for the project (no professional cameras allowed), but just to feel the vibe. Cabo Verde was playing that day, and that’s where I met Lucio. You can see him standing in the middle of the photo below, draped with a less familiar, bur striking, blue flag. Long story short, I got his contact info, and he told me where to be for Cabo Verde third and final game in the group stage. Cut to Delta Sports Bar, on my birthday, to watch an amazing match with 40+ Cabo Verde World Cup fans in Toronto. It was awesome. And it was a full circle moment for me. My very first bar I ever took a photo for this project was Delta Sports Bar, when I found Trinidad and Tobago fans in 2006. There were a heck of a lot of almost goals, and of course, some amazing saves. A lot of action for a 0-0 draw. 2026 Jordan – 2026 June 22, 2026July 3, 2026 Any way you look at it, Jordan had the most challenging EDT schedule of all the teams. All three of Jordan’s games were scheduled at 10 PM or later, making them all night games. I know this might sound strange, but in the 20 years I’ve been photographing this project,… Read More
