Egypt – 2026 Joseph, June 15, 2026June 29, 2026 Egypt fans benefitted from a keen business owner (Mohamed Saleh) who knew this World Cup could be something special. With strong social media presence and welcoming staff, Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen and The Local by Masrawy (located in the same plaza), was a clear choice for Egypt fans to watch the games. Not a surprise people turned up. A lot of people. With the success of the team on the pitch, it brought even more people out (as we shall see). What made my experience with the Egypt fans even more memorable, it always is, was an early goal and a lead in the match. Nothing gels the room more and raises the excitement of the match. I think that early goal had more to do with the success of this team and the turn out of the fans than anything else. It was an immediate confidence, sprinkled with belief, and it was contagious. I was in The Local by Masrawy, a cute bakery/coffee shop, for the goal (photos above). They kept the place reservation free and walk ins were welcome. After the hydration break, I walked across the plaza to Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen, a traditional restaurant, that had set-up an outdoor viewing patio with a tent, sound and big screen. It was completely booked with rowdy fans. You always know you are at the right viewing party if CP24 shows up. 2026 Jordan – 2026 June 22, 2026June 28, 2026 Any way you look at it, Jordan had the most challenging EDT schedule of all the teams. All three of Jordan’s games were scheduled at 10 PM or later, making them all night games. I know this might sound strange, but in the 20 years I’ve been photographing this project,… Read More
2018 Egypt – 2018 June 25, 2018June 26, 2018 I do my best to photograph teams as early in the tournament as possible, ideally game one or two. With Egypt, despite heroic attempts to catch game two, I was left capturing fans for their third and final game. Considering it was a match between two teams already eliminated from… Read More
2026 Canada – 2026 (Game 1) June 12, 2026June 21, 2026 Canada’s first points in a World Cup final, first home game, first Toronto World Cup match. It was a special day. I was at a loss as to where to watch this match, but I knew I wanted it to be someone special, and I have no regrets. Nathan Phillips… Read More
