Congo DR – 2026

I’ve been trying to avoid doubling up venues this year, but Nganda African Street Food on Adelaide is the kind of venue I could have photographed dozens of games and been at the best location in the city. Broadly supporting teams like Ghana, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo DR, among others, Nganda did a fantastic job promoting and supporting African teams. As a result, when I was looking for a great viewing party for Congo DR, a team I had not photographed before, I knew it was the place to be, and it did not disappoint.

Although Congo DR didn’t end up scoring, the drama at the end of the match made for some really exciting photos and the fans were fully engaged.

Game Details:

Date: June 23, 2026
Score of Game: Colombia 1, Congo DR 0
Location: Nganda African Street Food, 254 Adelaide St W, Toronto
Estimated Number of Fans: 45

I have to include this photo here as well. I didn’t know what I had until after I got home and was editing the photos, but at the Canada game again Qatar, shortly after one of the many goals, I did a quick shot of all the fans around me. At the time, I thought the red shirt was just another Canada jersey (I wasn’t paying too much attention, a lot was going on), but later realized it was a DR Congo shirt. If I didn’t find Congo fans on the June 23, this was likely going to be my one and only photo:

Any way you look at it, Jordan had the most challenging EDT schedule of all the teams. All three of Jordan’s games were scheduled at 10 PM or later, making them all night games. I know this might sound strange, but in the 20 years I’ve been photographing this project,…
