Morocco – 2018 Joseph, June 15, 2018June 26, 2018 At the very last minute I got wind of a gathering of Moroccan fans for their first game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup at Jack Astor’s on Front Street. About a dozen supporters trickled in over the first half and were enthusiastic throughout the match. Part of the fun was a sizeable group of Iran supporters were sitting right beside them. Part of the fun. Actually, it was mostly fun and games until the last minutes when an own goal by Morocco sealed the deal for Iran. This is Morocco World Cup in Toronto, and I know it’s ironic because they lost the bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but at least they are in the right city now. Right? Date: June 15, 2018 Score of game: Morocco 0, Iran 1 Location: Jack Astor’s, 144 Front St W, Toronto, ON Estimated number of fans at location: 12 The photo at the top is the actual moment Iran won the match, but below is the aftermath. You can see the Moroccan fans in the background. Tough. Are you a Moroccan fan living in Toronto? Would love to know of any other FIFA World Cup gatherings you might have planned. With Croatia so dominate in the group stage of the 2018… Read More
